Privacy Policy

1. Data collection
DevContext does not collect, transmit, or store any
data on external servers. All data is stored exclusively in your
local browser storage (chrome.storage.local).
2. Data we store
- Conversation content — the text of your conversations with supported AI platforms, plus code snippets extracted from responses.
- Metadata — conversation titles, timestamps, platform names, auto-generated tags, and the source page URL.
- Preferences — theme (dark/light), language (EN/VI), retention limit, and per-platform save opt-outs.
3. How data is used
- Display your conversation history in the extension popup and viewer
- Enable search, filtering, and tagging
- Allow export/import for backup and portability
- Show a local storage usage meter
4. Data security
- All data remains 100% on your device
- No data is ever sent to the internet
- No third-party analytics or tracking
- No cloud backup or synchronization
Data is stored in plain text in local browser storage.
Do not paste secrets (API keys, passwords, tokens).
A one-click “Delete sensitive conversations” tool is
provided in Settings to permanently remove any conversation
containing keywords such as api_key,
password, or token.
5. Data deletion
- Delete a single conversation (recoverable from the trash for 7 days)
- “Clear All” in the popup (recoverable from the trash for 7 days)
- “Delete sensitive conversations” in Settings (permanent)
- Uninstall the extension — Chrome removes all its data automatically
6. Third-party sharing
We do not share, sell, rent, or transfer any data to third parties.
7. Permissions explained

8. Data retention
- Active conversations are kept until you delete them or they exceed your chosen retention limit (100 / 200 / 500, oldest removed first).
- Deleted items sit in a local trash for 7 days (max 50 items) before being purged.
- A one-time pre-migration backup is kept locally for 7 days, then removed.
9. Children's privacy
This extension is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
10. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, users will be notified via the extension's update notes.
